Hello,
With an emphasis on electronics and technology and such things being in constant flux, should we consider automobiles to no long be hard goods? We have some auto manufactures claiming that the majority of their vehicles of 15 years of age or 200K miles are still on the road, why would anyone get excited about the latest gizmo, entertainment feature, etc., that comes with one's auto. Who knows how long these devices will function or how much it will cost to replace them when (not if) they fail? Personally, I like an automobile with an uncluttered instrument panel that handles reasonably well and responds to my own actions. I'm concerned about the attitude drivers might have as automobiles incorporate more technology that might enable driver distraction or become distractions in themselves. Warning lights, sudden alarms, etc., that are to prevent accidents when one isn't paying attention just might startle a person enough that they lose control. All of this crash avoidance electronics is also subject to failure and I suspect the likelihood that they'd be useful for the entire normal life of a vehicle is not good. My question would be, "What are people's priorities regarding technology when purchasing an automobile and do they expect all of it to still be relevant throughout the life of the car?"
Please help.
I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.
